1936 Regimental Day Program

"Regimental Day" marked the anniversary of the assault
on the Walled City of Peking, August 14, 1900, in which the 14th Infantry took a conspicuous and heroic part. Of particular note in the program was the mention of a
"14th Infantry Band" playing the "Regimental March" as thentroops took
their seats; that Company "H" had a mascot: A mule named "Mouse" that
marched with the troops in the ceremony; that Sgt. Gates gave a speech on
"Loyalty"; and then Carrier Pigeons were released with messages to President
Roosevelt, various Cabinet Members andnArmy Brass --and a particular Lt. Colonel by the
name of Calvin P. Titus.
